GROWING UP ITALIAN
I was born and raised in the historic center of Rome.
My family tree runs the entire length of Italy. My mother coming from Venice in the north, my father from the central region of Tuscany, and the deep roots of my ancestry on Sardinia in the south.
I have been lucky enough to have lived most of my life in the wonderful city of Rome. The home that I was brought up in was literally a stage set overlooking the Pantheon building whose vivid presence entered into every room. My house could have been defined as una Bella casa Romana, full of art, design, books and culture. As a child, I used to spend hours listening to my mother’s friends who came to visit from all over the world. I stayed there for hours spellbound as I heard their stories and very amusing conversations in which I often joined in. So as I grew up it was only natural to choose classic studies – Latin and Greek – and later art history at university.
The Rome of my adolescence was a fantastic and safe city and for us the historic center was our playground. I had the fortune to play in the courtyards of ancient noble palaces and later as an adult to go to wonderful parties on the Terrazze Romane – roof terraces – with the most beautiful views in the world. Once I started to travel there was nothing to stop me! Thanks also to my work as a communications and PR manager for luxury fashion brands which kept me on the move. After 20 years of frantic life I decided to build something for myself from the things I know best… the Italian Lifestyle.
What do I love? Travel, art and the world of great wines and food, outdoor sports, the sea, skiing, but above all I enjoy culture and history and the magic of telling a story. Through work, family connections and friends in their creative professions, I have had the fortune to live incredible experiences and memories, giving me the vision of this amazing country. It brings me joy to share the strikingly varied landscapes filled with fascination and character, not to mention the wealth of beautiful tradition and crafts.
Italy is the place, but is also a way of living, a connection with people and the land which to me, is why it is universally loved.
And so, NOTHING BUT ITALY is born.
